Rihanna was lying low in Los Angeles, California, and her camp finally issued a statement to fans.

Her publicist wrote: "At the request of the authorities, Rihanna is not commenting about the incident involving Chris Brown. She wants to assure her fans that she remains strong, is doing well, and deeply appreciates the outpouring of support she has received during this difficult time."

"Slumdog Millionaire" took the best-picture Academy Award and seven other Oscars, including director for Danny Boyle.

The other top winners: Kate Winslet, best actress for the Holocaust-themed drama "The Reader"; Sean Penn, best actor for the title role of "Milk"; Heath Ledger, supporting actor for "The Dark Knight"; and Penelope Cruz, supporting actress for "Vicky Cristina Barcelona."

("Slumdog Millionaire" came in with 10 nominations. Its eight wins included adapted screenplay, cinematography, editing and both music Oscars (score and song).
